The Houston Texans take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football to kickoff Week 9.

Quarterback Davis Mills faces an uphill challenge on Battle Red Day as receivers Nico Collins and Brandin Cooks are both out.
It also does not help the cause at all that the Texans have never beaten the Eagles, going 0-5 all-time in the season series.
First quarter
9:42 — Mills throws a 2-yard touchdown pass to rookie TE Teagan Quitoriano, who is making his NFL debut after spending the first eight weeks on injured reserve. Extra point is good. Texans, 7-0
World Series update — Astros and Phillies tied 1-1 bottom of the first inning.
1:36 — RB Miles Sanders rushes for a 2-yard touchdown. Extra point is good. 7-7
On 4th and goal, Sanders scores easy 2-yard TD to make it 7-7. Texans made them work for it. Eagles used 18 plays to go 91 yards. @gallerysports

0:20 — RB Dameon Pierce loses a yard on first-and-10 from the Houston 36-yard line as the first quarter comes to a close.
Second quarter
World Series update — Astros and Phillies still tied 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
13:48 — On a third-and-11 from the Houston 35-yard line, Mills scrambles for eight yards. The Texans elect to punt. P Cam Johnston’s kick goes into the end zone for a touchback.
12:16 — The Eagles are driving like a hot knife through butter, but CB Steven Nelson sacks QB Jalen Hurts for an 8-yard loss. DT Jaleel Johnson recovers at the Houston 35-yard line.
10:52 — The theme for the Texans has been to cultivate takeaways but not generate any points. DT Javon Hargrave sacks Mills for a 6-yard loss on third-and-9 from the 50.
4:37 — RB Kenneth Gainwell rushes for a 4-yard touchdown. Extra point is good. Eagles, 14-7
World Series update — Astros and Phillies are still knotted at 1-1 going into the top of the fourth inning.
0:43 — Mills throws a 13-yard touchdown pass to WR Chris Moore. Initially it was ruled incomplete, but Replay Assistant reviewed it and it was overturned. 14-14
0:03 — K Jake Elliott’s 54-yard field goal is no good.

13:36 — The Eagles get the ball to start the second half, but DE Jerry Hughes gets two sacks, including a loss of 9-yard on a third-and-3 from the Eagles’ 24-yard line, to wreck Philadelphia’s opening drive.
World Series update — Astros still lead 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
12:03 — On a third-and-22 from the Houston 24-yard line, Mills hits Moore for nine yards. Houston is forced to punt.
10:05 — Sanders appears to gain two yards on a third-and-1 from the Eagles’ 29-yard line. However, coach Lovie Smith challenges the runner was not down by contact ruling. The play is reversed, and LB Christian Kirksey gets credited for dropping Sanders for a 1-yard loss.
8:23 — Sooner or later the Eagles defense was going to figure it out. CB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson picks off Mills and runs out of bounds at the Houston 17-yard line.
8:10 — It only takes the Eagles two plays as Hurts hits WR A.J. Brown for a 17-yard touchdown. Extra point is good. Eagles, 21-14
1:24 — Mills can’t find RB Rex Burkhead on a third-and-9 from the Eagles’ 12-yard line.
1:18 — K Ka’imi Fairbairn hits a 30-yard field goal. Eagles, 21-17
Fourth quarter
11:26 — The Texans kick field goals and the Eagles score touchdowns. Hurts throws a 4-yard scoring pass to TE Dallas Goedert. Hurts rushes up the middle for the two-point conversion. Eagles, 28-17
World Series update — Astros still lead 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs.
9:03 — On a third-and-10 from the Philadelphia 47-yard line, Hargrave sacks Mills for a 4-yard loss.
2:17 — Mills throws an interception looking for WR Phillip Dorsett in the end zone. CB James Bradberry nabs it. Houston is nailed with an illegal shift, but Philadelphia wisely declines.
0:00 — The Texans can’t keep up with the Eagles and fall to 1-6-1. The Eagles are 8-0. The Astros lead the Phillies 2-1 in the top of the eighth inning with no outs.
