The Houston Texans need a No. 2 target opposite Nico Collins for the 2025 season.
Some envision four-time Pro Bowl target Stefon Diggs returning on a one-year deal to better his market in 2025 after suffering a torn ACL in early October.
NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah thinks the Texans should bring in a newer version of Diggs with the No.25 overall pick in April’s draft. It’s why the longtime draft analyst has Houston targeting Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III in his latest mock draft from NFL.com.
The Texans are in the market for a new offensive coordinator, but they could use more help at receiver, too. Burden reminds me of Stefon Diggs, who is headed for free agency.

While a versatile receiver, Burden was at his best in the slot during his three seasons with the Tigers. In 2023, he put together an All-American caliber campaign, totaling career-highs in receptions (86), receiving yards (1,212), touchdowns (nine) and yards per catch (14.1).
Known for his pristine route-running, adding in Burden would shore up the middle of the field. Scouts have raved over his natural playmaking skills with the potential to win on explosive routes. The junior also offers value in special teams.
Two of Luther Burden’s best traits is tracking the ball and being a weapon after the catch.
He’s always extending plays, DJ Moore is a good ceiling comp.

Houston must prioritize its offensive line woes before going after a receiver, but if free agency to help the franchise shore up its pass protection, Burden as a consolation prize for Diggs’ departure would be hard to complain over.
