Texans’ Social Media Team Perfectly Trolls Titans After Overtime Win

The rivalry between the Texans and Titans heightened a bit on Sunday after Tennessee wore the franchise’s Oilers throwback uniforms against Houston during their clash in Week 15.

The Oilers, who previously played in Houston, relocated to Tennessee in 1997, before rebranding as the Titans in 1999. Houston was without an NFL team until the Texans were founded in 2002.

The decision to wear the throwback uniforms was a contentious one, but it ultimately backfired on the Titans after they suffered a 19–16 overtime loss despite having a 13–0 lead in the first half.

After the comeback win, the Texans’ social media team didn’t hesitate to gloat, perfectly trolling Tennessee in a short clip on X. In the video, Houston dropped a new Titans logo, featuring an “L” in the middle, before proceeding to drip animated oil over it, a reference to the feud regarding the Oilers.

“Happy oiLers game!” read the post’s caption.

Earlier on Sunday, the Titans’ social media team posted a graphic in which they referred to themselves as the Oilers, a clear attempt at a dig at the Texans. However, it was Houston who got the last laugh after edging out the overtime win.

The win sees the Texans improve to 8–6 on the year, as they managed to shut down their division rivals even without star quarterback C.J. Stroud available.

Former Texans superstar J.J. Watt also weighed in on the uniform debate, declaring that Houston should be granted ownership of the Oilers throwbacks after their win on Sunday.
