The Houston Texans have their presumptive face of the franchise onboard.
The Texans announced July 25 the club had signed quarterback C.J. Stroud to a four-year rookie contract.
Due to the fact Stroud is a first-round pick, the Texans will have the option to trigger a fifth year on the No. 2 overall pick’s deal. Having that option available would allow the Texans negotiating room in the future as they keep their signal caller and surround the former Ohio State product with weapons.
Stroud is enthralled in a quarterback battle with Davis Mills for the starting job. While the organization has long-term expectations for Stroud, the present course is replete with competition and earning a spot.
