Texans QB C.J. Stroud wins 3rd AFC Offensive Rookie of the Week award

Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud won another accolade this year after his playoff-sealing win over the Indianapolis Colts this past week.

Stroud earned the AFC Offensive Rookie of the Week award after his 264-yard, two-touchdown and zero-interception performance in Week 18. He completed 20-of-26 passes in the win and finished with a 134.1 passer rating. He hit wideout Nico Collins on a long touchdown early in the game and then led a 12-play, 73-yard scoring drive to take the lead over the Colts late in the fourth quarter.

This is the third time Stroud won the weekly award after claiming it in consecutive weeks in the middle of the season. Stroud won the award after he threw for 470 passing yards and five touchdowns in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9 and then the following week after he threw for 356 yards, one touchdown and rushed for another score in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

For his efforts, Stroud was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November after he totaled 1,466 passing yards and 10 touchdowns with a 68.8 completion percentage.

Stroud will now take his talents to the postseason with a match against the Cleveland Browns on the line. He didn’t suit up the last time the Texans played the Browns, which Houston lost by 14 points.
