Bobby Slowik will be pretty busy for the next few days.
On top of building a gameplan sufficient enough to take on the Kansas City Chiefs defense, the Houston Texans offensive coordinator will interview with the New York Jets for their open head coaching position on Thursday.
According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the interview will take place virtually at NRG Stadium. If Slowik impresses the AFC East organization, he can meet with the Jets next week for an in-person interview.
The Jets (5-12) requested to interview Slowik at the start of the month, but couldn’t meet with him since Houston was preparing for its wild-card round matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. A week later, he can focus on meeting with New York ahead of a second playoff game.

Last season ahead of the divisional round matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, Slowik virtually interviewed for the Tennessee Titans opening. He also was a finalist for the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons openings before choosing to return to Houston on a new contract extension.
The Texans’ offense took leaps in 2023 behind Slowik’s play design and C.J. Stroud’s heroics. A year later, things have soured around his stock despite helping Houston clinch a second AFC South division title.
Last year, the Texans went from ranking 31st in total yards to 12th under Slowik’s system. They also went from 30th in scoring to 13th and finished top 10 in passing.
Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is scheduled to interview virtually later today with the Jets for their head coach vacancy, source tells @NFLonCBS. The Texans are wrapping up their work week this afternoon with a Saturday game ahead.

Though Houston’s production dipped in Year 2, it still managed to finish 22nd in the league in total yards and 21st in total touchdowns.
The Texans did improve in rushing, rasing from 22nd to 12th behind Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon.
