Texans not projected to get any comp picks in 2025 NFL draft

Every offseason, the NFL awards compensatory draft picks to teams who essentially lost more than they gained in free agency in the previous year. Comp picks are awarded beginning at the end of the third round.

According to OverTheCap.com, the Houston Texans are not expected to receive any comp picks after retooling the roster in free agency. Despite the team’s loss of defensive end Jonathan Greenard and linebacker Blake Cashman, Houston canceled out the comp picks by signing defensive end Danielle Hunter and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

Smaller moves, like losing Sheldon Rankins and Steven Nelson to the Cincinnati Bengals, were negated after the signings of Tim Settle and Mario Edwards Jr. And since Maliek Collins was traded to San Francisco this offseason, the Texans won’t get a pick for his departure.

So, after an 11-8 season, Houston won’t get an extra pick entering the offseason when on the clock in the 2025 draft.

The Texans hold six picks in the NFL draft (April 24-26).
