Laremy Tunsil didn’t spend much time with C.J. Stroud in the offseason program, but it was enough.
The three-time Pro Bowler was present for the Houston Texans’ mandatory minicamp from June 13-14 at Houston Methodist Training Center. Tunsil had nothing but laudatory remarks for the No. 2 overall quarterback when joining “The Pat McAfee Show” on July 7.
“He handles himself well,” Tunsil said via Nick Shook of NFL.com. “He came in the building with these unbelievable leadership skills, and he’s killing it, man.”
Stroud is currently embroiled in a battle for the starting quarterback job. Third-year Davis Mills has no intention to surrender the position to Stroud, and the organization similarly believes the Ohio State product should earn the right.
With Stroud working to learn an NFL playbook and also compete for a starting spot, Tunsil has one word to encapsulate the rookie.
Said Tunsil: “How I describe C.J.: dawg. He’s a straight dawg. He comes in there ready to work, he handles the huddle perfectly and he goes out there and balls, man. You’ve got to appreciate that, especially in a young quarterback like C.J.”
Tunsil played all 17 games for the Texans last season, earning a Pro Bowl.
