Texans fantasy Week 3: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Jaguars

The past week against the Indianapolis Colts wasn’t the outcome Houston Texans fans all wanted, but there was a bright ray of hope when it comes to the quarterback position. C.J. Stroud really showed a lot of potential and growth and was very impressive. The Texans appear to be in good hands for the future under center.

Another player stepping up big time is Nico Collins. Listen, if there was anyone that was skeptical on Collins it was this fantasy analyst. There seems to be a comfort level with Stroud and Collins on the field and a level a trust. Collins is easily becoming the WR1 for the Texans and a bonafide fantasy option for lineups each week.

This week the Texans are facing off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Houston may be 0-3 after Week 3, which will be disappointing in Houston, but there is still some fantasy value to be had out of his matchup. The record is disappointing, but the Texans are building something special. With all of this being said, let’s look at which Texans to start and sit in fantasy football.

Start 'em — QB C.J. Stroud

The Texans franchise quarterback is number four in the NFL with 627 passing yards. This is an excellent sign for Texans fans. Stroud will continue to be a must-start each week. The offensive line needs to do a little better in pass protection, but they were missing four starters this past Sunday.

The connection that Stroud and Collins have is becoming special. When Stroud throws to Collins, they connect every time. The most crucial piece is Collins’s ability after the catch. Collins is starting to approach the must starts each week for fantasy football.

Start 'em — RB Dameon Pierce

The run game in Houston has been horrendous. Pierce is a stud, there is no doubt about it, but with Houston’s offensive line issues and the Texans still figuring out how to help Stroud succeed, Pierce is quickly becoming devalued in fantasy. If he ends up with five points again, it may be time to sit the former Florida Gator on the bench.

Sit 'em — Texans defense

Houston’s run defense is getting slashed when Zack Moss is hurting you; well, you know you have issues. Not to mention, Anthony Richardson ran it in for two scores. Will have to sit Houston’s D for now.

Sit 'em — TE Dalton Schultz

Stroud and Schultz seem like they can not get on the same page. One throw made by Stroud was way over Schultz’s head, and the Texans also don’t target him a lot. The former Dallas Cowboys tight end is becoming relevant as each week goes by, but not enough yet to really make any fantasy noise.

Sit 'em — RB Devin Singletary

Can he catch out of the backfield? Yes. Can he be the change of pace back for Houston? Yes. Is he getting tremendously out snapped by Pierce? Yes. Houston loves Pierce. However, the play-calling and offensive line does not. As long as Pierce is getting majority of snaps Singletary should be on the bench.
