Texans DL Denico Autry fined $11,817 for unnecessary roughness hit vs. Dolphins

Houston Texans defensive tackle Denico Autry was fined $11,817 for unnecessary roughness hit against the Miami Dolphins in Week 15’s 20-12 win.

During the first quarter, Autry and offensive lineman Jackson Carman delivered words after a hit against running back De’Von Achane while he was going out of bounds. The penalties offset and later led to a Jason Sanders 55-yard field goal.

All fines can be appealed and are often reduced or wiped out through an NFL-NFL Players Association collectively bargained process.

Autry wasn’t the only Texans player fined. Safety Eric Murray was fined $9,788 for unnecessary roughness for a low block.

Defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. was fined $22,511 for unnecessary roughness for roughing the passer with a blow to the head/neck.

He was also fined $5,916 for another hit for unnecessary roughness for the use of the helmet.

The money the league receives from fines isdonated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, per the NFL.

The Texans return to NRG Stadium on three days rest to take on the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT.
