Texans come to terms with No. 3 overall pick Will Anderson Jr.

According to Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, the Texans and edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. have agreed to terms on his rookie contract. Wilson says the contract is a four-year, fully guaranteed deal with $35,212,818 and will include a fifth-year option.

The 2023 NFL draft was huge for Houston. After selecting former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick, the front office immediately traded up to No. 3 so they could secure Anderson. The team now has a cornerstone piece on each side of the football to build around for the future.

Anderson had 10 sacks in 13 games in 2022 which was a down year by his own standards. In 2021, Anderson racked up 17.5 sacks and was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in both seasons.

Reports out of the Texans minicamp have been all positive about Anderson. He’s brought the same level of energy and intensity he did at Alabama and looks exactly like the level of play the Texans were hoping to get when they traded up for Anderson.
