HOUSTON — Second-year offensive lineman Kenyon Green doesn’t show a lot of emotions. He keeps the same stoic look on his face no matter the situation. Still, on Thursday, Green flashed a smile as he headed toward the huddle to begin team drills with the first offensive unit and took his place at the guard position next to Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
“Kenyon has been progressing, so it was good to have him back out there,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “I think he can add a lot of value to our front. He is a really hard worker. He has put in the work to be back out there, and we were excited to see him back. He has a lot of work (ahead) to continue to prove on, but we are happy to have him back with us.”

The Texans used the No. 15 overall pick in 2022 to select the two-time All-American from Texas A&M. Green is looking to bounce back from a rough rookie year after facing some of the top defensive tackles in the NFL. The new offensive system and blocking scheme installed by first-year offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik should help Green flourish in his second season.
Houston added some depth at the guard position by signing former Miami Dolphins reserve lineman Michael Dieter to a one-year deal this offseason. He took first-team reps in Green’s absence on Wednesday and filled in for him during some team drills as the Texans want to ensure they do not rush Green back too soon.
