The Houston Texans still hope to make a run in the AFC playoffs following Week 18, but they also know their path back to the postseason in 2025.
Thanks to the Lions defeating the 49ers on “Monday Night Football,” the Texans’ schedule of opponents for the 2025 season is almost officially locked in. Why was Monday’s game an extra piece of the puzzle? Well, since the Texans won the AFC South for the second consecutive year, they’ll go head-to-head over other first-place teams next fall.
All the divisions are basically set except for the NFC North. The winner of the Minnesota Vikings and Lions game on “Sunday Night Football” next week will not only decide home-field advantage in the playoff but also Houston’s future opponent.
The same goes for the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who remain in a dead heat entering the final week of the regular season for the NFC South crown. The division winner will travel to NRG Stadium at some point in 2025.
The Texans secured first place in the AFC South after completing the sweep of the Jaguars and Colts earlier this season. They could finish 5-1 in the division with a win over the Titans on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
Unlike some rosters, Houston plans on playing starters, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, wide receiver Nico Collins and defensive end Danielle Hunter.
