Testing the £4.99 Aldi blusher that’s ‘more pigmented’ than £27.50 NARS version

An Aldi blusher has been going viral on TikTok after beauty buffs claimed it was a dupe of the much more expensive brand NARS.

NARS’ ‘Orgasm’ range has been a cult beauty staple for more than two decades, since its release in 1999.

The product has been dubbed ‘the ultimate authority in blush’ by the brand - but could that title be traded in for a younger, cheaper alternative?

Aldi’s Lacura blusher comes in two shades, Candy , which is a dupe for NARS’ Orgasm X, and Coral, which is most similar to the NARS Behave blush.

While NARS’ luxury product comes with a hefty price tag of £27.50, it’s also got more than 1,400 five star reviews on their website.

However, the Aldi 's beauty buy is marked up at £4.99 - five times cheaper - and reviewers are already comparing it to the NARS version.

One of the first tell-tale signs of the dupe is the Lacura packaging, which bears a striking resemblance to the original NARS blush.

Inside, there’s a sleek grey compact with a generous pan of blush, as well as a mirror - perfect for carrying in your purse to top up your makeup on the go.

I bought the shade Candy , most similar to best-seller Orgasm X from the NARS collection, which is a shimmery pink shade.

It’s not my usual blush colour, as I tend to wear more neutral tones, but when lightly applied to my cheeks, it offered a pleasant pop of pink that looked healthy and glowy.

I was quite surprised that the texture didn’t feel chalky, and instead offered a weightless and well pigmented flush of colour.

What was really nice was that it was quite buildable, and while I don’t tend to go heavy on blusher, you absolutely could build this to be more vibrant on the skin - ideal for all skin types and tones.

Of the cruelty free makeup product, Aldi said: “Add to your makeup collection with this Lacura Blusher. Achieve those rosy cheeks with this delicate and sweet blusher. Define, pop and contour your way to looking your absolute best.”

And I’m not the only one who’s loved this cheaper alternative, with the product already raking in five star reviews online.

One shopper wrote: “Beautiful feeling blush, I thought it may be a little light but the pigmentation is really rich, a velvety feel very similar to Milani in texture. Love they’ve brought an almost Nars item out at an affordable price.”

“I have the NARS equivalent and actually prefer this as it’s more pigmented,” added another.

One customer vowed to repurchase after loving the beauty buy, writing: “It's just like the cult Nars version. It has strong pigment so a little goes a long way and a lovely gold shimmer!”
