Tess Daly had some news for expectant Strictly Come Dancing fans about the show's Blackpool special, confirming next week's episode had been shunted to a later time slot.
Going into this weekend, all nine remaining couples left in the new series of Strictly had one thing in their sights - a place in Blackpool week, as the BBC programme's cast and crew travel to the seaside town for the first time in three years, after plans were ruined in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Blackpool's famous Tower Ballroom has been the sight of some incredible Strictly moments over the years, including Jill Halfpenny's epic jive to I'm Still Standing and now judge Anton Du Beke getting his first ever 10 alongside EastEnders star Emma Barton. Fans and everyone involved with the show are absolutely delighted that the 'Vegas of the north,' will be in the Strictly spotlight once again on Saturday, November 19.

Sadly, one couple had to leave Strictly before packing their cases for Blackpool and this week's Strictly results came with a big twist, when Tony Adams withdrew due to injury, before he and Katya Jones took on Tyler West and Dianne Buswell in the dance-off. After Tony gave an emotional exit speech, it was down to Tess and co-host Claudia Winkleman to wrap up proceedings.
And it was then that Tess broke news of next Saturday's schedule change, saying: "We will be back next Saturday, live from the Blackpool Tower ballroom, at the later time of 7.45," before introducing Tony and Katya's 'goodbye' dance.
The reason for Strictly being on later looks like being down to the final of the Rugby League World Cup being on BBC One, with its 4pm kick off time, pushing other shows like the News and The Wheel back.
Reacting to Tess' statement, one recent Strictly convert tweeted: "I only started watching #Strictly in 2020 so I’ve never seen a Blackpool Special and I don’t really understand the importance of the Tower Ballroom, but I just find it so funny how they all go on about Blackpool like it’s heaven on earth. It’s brilliant."
