Tesla Recalls Almost 700,000 Vehicles Due To Tire Pressure Issue

A Tesla Cybertruck is on display at Tesla in Buena Park, Calif. on Sunday Dec. 3, 2023. With manufacturing kinks still to be worked out, Tesla has delivered the first dozen or so of its futurist

Tesla has announced a recall of nearly 700,000 vehicles due to an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system warning light. The recall affects specific models, including the 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles. The concern is that the warning light may not stay illuminated between drive cycles, potentially failing to alert drivers of low tire pressure, which could lead to an increased risk of accidents.

To address this issue, Tesla is offering a free software update to rectify the problem. Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive notification letters starting on February 15, 2025. For more information, customers can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 or reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit their website at www.nhtsa.gov.

This latest recall adds to a series of recalls that Tesla has faced throughout the year. The Cybertruck, in particular, has been subject to multiple recalls, with the current one marking the seventh recall for the vehicle this year. In a previous recall last month, around 2,400 vehicles were affected.

Tesla's Cybertruck, known for its futuristic design, faced delays in delivery, with the first units reaching customers in November 2023, two years later than initially planned. In July, the automaker recalled over 1.8 million vehicles due to a hood issue that posed a crash risk. Additionally, in February, Tesla recalled nearly 2.2 million vehicles in the U.S. because of small warning lights on the instrument panel.
