Tesla crashes through wall and into swimming pool as boy, 4, has to be rescued

A family had to be rescued from a swimming pool after their Tesla crashed through a wall.

The scary incident, which happened in Pasadena, California, US on Tuesday, saw a four-year-old boy, his mum and his gran pulled from the car after plummeting into a pool.

The accident reportedly happened when the driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake while pulling into a parking space in nearby Pacific Oaks Children’s School.

According to the Pasadena Fire Department the car smashed through the wall of a suburban home - with the Tesla submerged in a garden pool.

Two nearby eyewitnesses heard the noise and quickly rushed to the scene where they jumped into the water and rescued the passengers.

Emergency services were called to the scene as firefighters attempted to rescue the passengers from the pool.

The child was checked over at the scene by firefighters but fortunately no-one suffered any injuries which needed hospital treatment.

Pasadena Fire Department said in a statement: "Two good Samaritans rescued a 4-year-old boy, his mother and his grandmother after their Tesla crashed through a wall and fell and into a backyard pool in the 700 block of West California Boulevard in Pasadena.

"No one was injured."

The crash comes just weeks after a doctor allegedly drove a Tesla with his family inside off the edge of a cliff.

Dharmesh Patel, a 41-year-old doctor from Pasadena, drove 250ft off Devil's Slide in Northern California, US, on December 2.

He was driving the car with his wife and two children, a seven-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, along a dangerous part of the Pacific Coast Highway.

The car managed to come to a halt just metres away from the sea.

All four survived although the two adults were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Rescue teams have described how none of the family were killed as an "absolute miracle".

Patel, a radiologist at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Los Angeles, has since been charged with attempted murder and child abuse, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said in a statement.

CHP's statement stated: “CHP investigators worked throughout the night interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence from the scene.

“Based on the evidence collected, investigators developed probable cause to believe this incident was an intentional act.”
