Tesco wins best supermarket for cleaning products by mums online

A new study has unveiled which supermarket cleaning range is the best-loved amongst mums - and it is not Aldi, Lidl or Asda.

Research from home renovation experts have found that one UK supermarket won the competition by a landslide. Utilising Mumsnet's Housekeeping Hub, it was revealed that Tesco has the most mentions in a period of 12 months.

The Scottish Daily Express reports that the supermarket chain easily took the crown with a whopping 391 mentions from mums in the forums online threads.

It comes after the supermarket recently launched their line of sustainable cleaning products last year, which included six refillable bottles.

Tesco's closest competitors were Aldi and Asda, which trailed behind with a total of 177 and 169 respective mentions.

The study was conducted by researchers at ConservatoryBlinds4Less as part of a wider study into the popular Housekeeping sub-forum.

Tesco's own range had more mentions than any other supermarket (Tesco)

According to the study, these were the Tesco products with the highest number of mentions during the last 12 months:

  • “Tesco anti bac wipes” - 152 mentions
  • “Tesco sponges” - 77 mentions
  • “Tesco floor cleaner” - 19
  • “Tesco own mop” - 14 mentions
  • “Tesco micro fibre cloths” - 13 mentions

Full Findings:

  1. Tesco - 391 mentions

  2. Aldi - 177 mentions

  3. Asda - 169

  4. Lidl - 153

  5. Sainsbury’s - 117

  6. Co-op - 62

  7. Morrisons - 32

A spokesperson from Conservatory Blinds 4 Less' research team said: "We decided to look into this as we've seen a huge rise in the number of searches for terms around cleaning supplies, tips and hacks, with one of the most notable being for "best cleaning products", which has jumped to 1,200 searches this April, compared to just 429 during the same period last year.

"Mumsnet has an incredible wealth of knowledge for many subjects, and the housekeeping hub is no exception.

"Tesco's position as the most-loved supplier of cleaning products was interesting; we expected Aldi or Lidl to top the list - as these are often anecdotally heralded as having the best, most reasonably-priced cleaning aisles. However, Tesco was the most-mentioned by quite some way in the hub.

"Perhaps this is to do with a general up-tick in shoppers, or a broadening of their products. Whatever it is, the numbers speak for themselves, with Tesco the firm favourite for mums this year when it comes to buying shopping supplies."
