Tesco warning to customers who buy fruit and vegetables over Sahara Desert dust

Tesco has issued a warning to all customers who buys fruit and vegetables from the retailer. Recent winds from the Sahara Desert has caused dust to settle on Spanish crops bought by Tesco.

This has prompted the retail giant to urge customers to ensure they wash fruit and veg products before eating them. Spanish officials recently warned of poor air quality ratings due to dust crossing from the Sahara to the Mediterranean due to Storm Celia.

Tesco has issued the warning about dust on its products on its website. The statement urges customers to take action.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: "Due to the recent winds from the Sahara Desert, a small amount of dust has settled on our Spanish crops. Please ensure you wash your fruit and veg products before enjoying. Thank you for supporting our growers and preventing food waste by continuing to buy these products."
