Tesco to launch massive half-price toy sale event ahead of Christmas

Tesco is set to launch a giant sale with up to half price on toys which is ideal for parents who will be gearing up for the Christmas shopping dash.

Launching next week on Monday, October 3, the supermarket chain will slash prices across top-branded toys by up to 50%, with prices starting at as low as £7.50. Only shoppers who are signed up to the supermarket's Clubcard scheme will be able to access the discounts in their local store starting next week.

Some of the products that shoppers can snap up in the sale will be toys from popular toy companies, including Lego, Squishmallows and much more.

The sale has arrived just as families will be wondering how to get in the Christmas shopping this year at affordable prices amidst the cost of living crisis.

Discounted items will include a Lego Friends Value pack, which will be down from £40 to £24 –saving customers a whopping £16.

You will also be able to pick up a y-pro football table for £12, half price from its usual cost of £24.

Popular Squishmallows - which went viral last year - have been reduced down from £23 to £11.50, allowing shoppers to save 50% on the purchase.

Clubcard holders will be able to access the half-price toy event in all UK Tesco stores until November 2 - meaning they have plenty of time to get in the Christmas shopping for less.

Tesco's popular loyalty scheme allows its members to build up points that can be used to purchase items in-store, or at any of the supermarket's partners. The scheme also gives its members the advantage off accessing lower prices and discounts that they are running.

Anne Borrett, Tesco’s toy category manager, said: “We know that with the cost of living squeeze, Christmas can be quite a strain on the wallet, especially for families with more than one child.

“So we want to make it easier for them to spread the cost of buying presents.”

It comes after Tesco began getting into the festive spirit earlier than usual this year by stocking festive treats and chocolates as early as August.

A Scots branch in Glasgow was found to be stocking tubs of Heroes and Celebrations, which are hugely popular at Christmas, on store shelves 4 months early.
