A former Tesco employee has lifted the lid on the meaning behind the codes that appear on the supermarket's vegetable bags.
The former employee shared the discovery in a video posted on TikTok. The user goes by the name @financegirlbargains on the content creation platform.
She shared a clip of a packet of mangetouts in the supermarket that showed the codes A3 and A6 on the packet. She captioned the clip: "Tesco staff training taught me the higher the number the fresher the product." - as The Daily Record reports.

The code has replaced best before end dates on fresh fruit and vegetables to help reduce waste. It doesn't show how 'fresh' a product is, but is used by Tesco to indicate the date of the month the produce was packed.
The code has been implemented by several other supermarkets including Asda, Sainsbury's and Lidl. The clip has since been liked by nearly 41,500 shoppers as many said they weren't aware of the codes.
