Tesco shoppers shun 'gross' £9 Easter Eggs as shelves left full of unsold stock

Supermarket giant Tesco has left customers reeling after pictures of shelves full of unsold £9 Easter Eggs went viral online.

However, for many people, when you realise which flavour they are, you’ll probably understand.

With Easter well and truly over, many shops are flogging the last of their remaining eggs at discounted prices, but one type of egg in particular seems to be left behind on mass in some Tesco stores, reports Manchester Evening News.

Posting on Twitter on Easter Monday, one social media user, @ThisIsntNath, shared a picture of a shelf full of Bounty Easter Eggs. The shelves are packed full of the eggs, which are on offer for £9 for Clubcard holders (or £12 if you don't have one).

The social media user wrote: "Literally nobody wants Bounty easter eggs."

The post didn't go unnoticed by other social media users, who quickly rushed to slam the controversial eggs. @tinyfluffs wrote: "I wouldn't pay 9 quid for it. Maybe 3." @ThisIsntNath replied: "Tesco should be paying *me* to eat a Bounty tbh."

On Reddit, another person posted a similar picture, writing: “ People voting with their wallets.”

One person responded: “ £9!?!? Nine! Quid! I love a bounty, but nine Great British Pounds!?!? Do one, Tesco.” Somebody else replied: “I’ll take one away for £9! Oh wait they want you to pay them?!”

Another disgusted Tesco shopper commented: “9 quid for the leftovers of a celebrations tin.” While somebody else wrote: “Making a Bounty Easter egg is the equivalent of hiring Jabba the Hutt as a ring girl.” Yet another hater simply wrote: “Vile.”

However, some people did rock up to defend the Bounty. One fan praised: "I love bounty. You are all weird." Another exclaimed: "Bounty bars are actually my favourite. I'd consider buying one but the price is making my eyes melt out of their sockets."
