Tesco shoppers fuming after spotting driver's 'joke' parking at the supermarket

Thoughtless and inconsiderate parking is the bane of many people’s lives. Now one driver has taken the ‘art’ to a whole new level. The unnamed motorist’s car was photographed at a Tesco supermarket in Coventry. He probably couldn’t believe his luck when he saw an empty parking space, and diligently parked up his motor.

But somehow he overlooked one important fact: his ‘vacant parking bay’ was in fact over the curb of a zebra crossing.

Seeing red, a fed-up shopper snapped an image of the parking blunder and shared it to Facebook, reeling at the sheer ignorance of driver.

Incensed, they said: "Just another idiot in Tesco this evening. The guy just missed the correct parking space.”

True to form, the post drew a steady stream of comments, with many fellow social media users also mad at the driver.

One was typical of many when he said: "Yet another joke driver, they have absolutely no clue what is around them or with them."

A parent with a pushchair, who had to avoid the badly-parked car, waded in too: "Had to walk round with a pushchair. Glad there wasn't another car to the right."

Perhaps the driver should check his spectacle prescription said another: "And people wonder why accidents happen. Needs to go to Specsavers.”

However, there were some balanced and sympathetic comments, trying to see it from the driver’s perspective. Judging from the image, they said, it was an easy mistake to make because the road markings did make it look like a parking spot.

One even said he was tempted to park in what he thought was a legitimate parking spot: "Not going to lie I did see this space this afternoon and it does look like a parking space."

Others pleaded for some kindness: "Could just be someone who’s had a long day, got a lot going on, and in a bit of a world of their own, don’t be so harsh, that’s all I’ll say."

A spokesperson for Tesco commented: "We’d like to thank all our customers who park responsibly and are disappointed to see this inconsiderate parking outside of the designated spaces, which we would not expect to happen again."
