A shopper has shared his disbelief after making his latest purchase at a Tesco supermarket. The customer took to social media to post about his latest shopping bill - which showed a bottle of milk costing more than a kettle.
The user, called Mark, headed online to popular Facebook page, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, to upload a photo of his receipt. On it, a bottle of 'fresh milk' could be seen costing £2.35, while a kettle - printed on the receipt as 'T. Kettle 1.7L' - was on there for just £1.90.
On the Tesco website, a six pint bottle of Tesco own brand semi skimmed milk can be seen on sale for £2.35, as well as a six pint bottle of own-brand whole fat milk for the same amount.

However, there currently is not a kettle on sale on the Tesco website for £1.90. This possibly may be because the product was reduced or there was a discount on offer in the specific store Mark visited.
Writing about the price difference on the Facebook page, Mark said: "When a bottle of milk costs more than a kettle. Something wrong in this country," followed by three shocked face emojis.
After sharing his receipt online, the post quickly captured the attention of many other fellow shoppers, with hundreds of likes and comments. Kymberley Paskell replied: "£2.35? What milk you buying?", as Brenda Wilton echoed: "Expensive milk", to which Mark said: "Six pint", with a thumbs up emoji.
Robert Mcdonald joked: "No point crying over spilt milk." Mark Waples quipped: "I never knew kettles could stir up such snobbery! lol." Debbieshipley Shipley added: "Look at it the other way around, cheap kettle, what a bargain."
However, for some, the pricing isn't what caught their eye the most. Douglas Stewart asked: "3 kettles!? That's a lot of water you must be boiling." Morgan McKay questioned: "Did you need 3 kettles? Lol."
But Joe Mackay argued: "I'd have bought every kettle on the shelf and sold them on ebay, simply because I can. Who cares why he bought 3 and what he wanted 3 for, it's nobody else's business."
Others were unsure the receipt was correct. Jane Mawdsley said: "Yep the kettle is too cheap!" Ashley Luke Obern typed: "Something wrong with this country? No mate, probably something wrong on their system, or on offer." Kim Rousell put: "100% convinced Tesco incorrectly priced those kettles."
