Marks and Spencer has been praised for the prices in its new 'Remarksable Value' range, with shoppers vowing to switch supermarkets after discovering what they can get for their cash.
The new range consists of staples from milk and eggs to meat, pasta and veg, and promises that shoppers can "cook up tasty meals with ingredients that don't compromise on M&S quality". Many shoppers have praised the new collection, with some claiming that M&S can rival the likes of Tesco and Asda in value for money.
MyLondon reporter Dan Wiggins decided to see what all the fuss was about by browsing the Remarksable Value range - and was impressed by the results. After getting in a £16.19 shop from M&S, Dan said that he wouldn't be visiting his regular supermarket Tesco any time soon.

Dan tried to make the most of the range by picking up items for two simple recipes - beef and bean chilli with jacket potatoes and slaw, and sausage and broccoli spaghetti. Things got off to a "good start", the MyLondon reporter said, with the first thing he picked up being some large white bread rolls for just 95p - and from there the bargains "started appearing left, right and centre".
Dan picked up some spaghetti for less than a pound, six eggs for £1, and eight pork sausages for just £1.50. After snapping up some beef mince for £1.80 and buying all of his veg for just over £6, Dan said that he was left wondering "whether I'd walked into Aldi or Lidl by mistake".
Some other items did turn out to be pricier than he was used to, however, including £2.75 for a 350g block of cheddar cheese and 75p for red kidney beans. Overall, the £16.19 shop sorted Dan's lunches and dinners for the rest of the weekend - and despite some items proving more costly, he was overall left happy with the experience.
Dan's final verdict was: "Despite the genuinely great value on the items in the 'Remarksable Value' range, there just wasn't enough variety in that range to make doing an entire shop at M&S a viably cheap option unless you're sticking closely to the basics. That said, I was impressed, and it left me certain of one thing - I wouldn't be returning to Tesco for a while."
