Tesco saving stamps scheme: How long do you have left to use them?

Customers who have collected Tesco's saving stamps throughout 2023 have just a few weeks left to use them, as the scheme comes to a close.

In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis and in the run-up to Christmas, saving a few pounds can go a long way.

If you have any saving stamps left to use, be sure not to miss out on using them before they become invalid.

Here's what you need to know about the supermarket chain's saving stamps scheme and when you need to use any stamps by.

What was the saving stamps scheme?

The long-running scheme has been around for years, allowing Tesco shoppers to buy stamps throughout the year to later spend them on bills in December.

It was designed to give shoppers a little more money to spend on presents, food, and other festive essentials during the holiday period, spreading the cost of winter bills throughout the year.

Saving stamps were available to purchase in most Tesco Superstores and Extra locations. During December, customers who redeemed £49 worth of stamps in-store would also get a free £1 bonus stamp from the supermarket chain.

When did it end?

However, the saving stamps scheme ended on October 16.

Although you can no longer collect the stamps, any that you've already earned are still valid until the end of the year.

How long do shoppers have left to use them?

If you have Tesco saving stamps to use up, you have until December 31 to spend them in-store.

From the beginning of 2024, any leftover stamps will become invalid and you can no longer use them.

If you don't want to use them to spend on bills before the end of the year, you can also exchange them in-store for a Tesco gift card of the same value, to allow you to delay using them for a little longer.

Christmas savers scheme

Although Tesco saving stamps will soon be a thing of the past, the supermarket is still helping its customers save during the holiday season.

Tesco recently launched its Christmas Savers Scheme, which operates in a similar way and is only open to Tesco Clubcard holders.

Saving your Clubcard vouchers throughout the year under this scheme means you can use them in your Christmas shop.

Plus, if you top up your Clubcard account with money, Tesco will give you a little bonus on top. If you top up by £25, you will receive a £1.50 bonus voucher, or top up by more than £50 to get a £3 bonus voucher, by over 100 to get a £6 bonus voucher, and more than £200 to receive a £12 voucher. That equates to roughly six per cent cashback.
