Tesco, Morrisons, Asda: More strange and hilarious online supermarket swaps

It can become a bit of a game. You order your online food shop then wait for the day to arrive to see exactly what you'll actually get when it comes to substitutions.

On Monday, February 21, we shared some of the nations oddest swaps and while some substitutions were easy so relate to, others left customers scratching their heads.

Nottinghamshire Live readers were quick to point out that this was a local problem too and shared with us some of their hilarious and unexpected deliveries.

Reader Heidi Louise Alvey's breakfast, for instance, was made very interesting. She says: "Tesco once substituted a box of Rice Krispies cereal for a 4-pack of wispa chocolate bars."

While Kerry Kay said: "Morrisons (Amazon) had no cheese topped cobs in so they substituted with a packet of chocolate buttons and a pack of scones!"

And added: "I ordered spring onions and received a tin of corned beef!"

The surprises, and sometimes shocks, continued.

We're not sure what Zan Mason would have done had she accepted the substitution in one delivery: "I got 4, 4-pinters of cows milk (16 pints) instead of 4 1l bottles of oat milk once, I refused it at the door so no problems but even the delivery woman seemed perplexed by the sheer volume of milk that they sent."

Although it can be fun to see what turns up, if you're counting on a particular ingredient for a recipe or have a particular meal in mind for dinner and it doesn't arrive it can be frustrating.

Tina Marie Newbold said: "I ordered from Morrisons [I wanted] chicken and got onion bhajis."

And pets have been impacted too.

Rachel Foster said: "I ordered cat food. Received dog food."

The story of the funniest swap though has to come from Helen Andrews, who said: "The best one I saw was someone ordered a pregnancy test and got sent a box of condoms - a bit too late for that lol"

Closely followed by Yvette Sadler's experience, who added: "I ordered throat lozenges and received tampons!"
