Tesco makes two changes to home delivery service - including the minimum spend

Tesco is making two big changes to its online delivery service and the moves are set to cost customers more money. The supermarket chain is planning to increase the minimum amount shoppers need to spend to get free online delivery, according to The Mirror.

Customers will be charged more for spending under the minimum. Currently, Tesco customers who spend less than £40 online are charged an additional £4. But from Tuesday, May 2 customers will need to spend a minimum of £50 or face an additional fee of £5.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “To ensure we can continue to serve our online customers as effectively as possible, from May 2 we are making some changes to our minimum basket threshold, the first change we are making in nearly eight years. For the vast majority of our customers, there will be no change to the way they shop.”

Customers who spend more than £50 will avoid the fees. The minimum order of £25 for click and collect remains for a free service remains the same.

But Tesco has also announced another big change - this time to the way Clubcard points are redeemed with its Rewards Partners from June 14. Currently, customers get triple the amount of points but will now only get double.

At the moment, those with 500 points would be able to spend £5 in Tesco stores but £25 with the supermarket's reward partners. But from June 14 the points will only be worth £10 at Rewards Partners.
