Tesco issues urgent warning for shoppers to not eat cheese pulled from supermarkets

Tesco is currently urging customers to 'not consume' a certain cheese product, which has now been pulled from fridges at the supermarket.

The leading grocery retailer has warned that one of its grated cheese products has been called as a precautionary measure, due to small pieces of plastic potentially contaminating the item.

The Food Safety Agency has also shared details on what punters should do should they have bought the product, as well as detailed information on why the specific item is being recalled.

The Liverpool Echo reports that a Tesco notice reads: "We’re recalling one date code of Tesco Creamfields grated cheddar 500g. This is because it may contain small pieces of clear, soft plastic which could make the product unsafe to eat."

The affected product is as follows:

  • Best before date: 23/03/23

Shoppers who have the affected batch are urged: "Please do not consume this product and instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required."
