Tesco have issued an important message to those who may be worrying about money this winter.
The supermarket giant has set out calls for a 'Use Up Day' in a bid to help families in need as the price of food continues to rise. It comes as inflation hit a record 14.7 per cent, adding a potential £682 to the annual cost of shopping for the average household, reports Birmingham Live.
A 'Use Up Day' is where shoppers are urged to use up the contents in their fridges before heading to the shops to stock up again, reports the Grocer.

Some supermarkets have been trying to absorb the cost of price rises while many have been passed to customers.
Tesco released the results of a YouGov survey that asked more than 2,000 adults throughout the UK as it looks to boost the 'Use By Day' campaign. The survey results suggest that up to 92 per cent of shoppers don't know what they have in their kitchens before they make the trip to the shops.
The research also suggests that 73 per cent of UK households have thrown away or forgotten about items lurking in the back of the cupboards, fridges and freezers. And Tesco highlight that the waste means that every household could be throwing away up to £800 worth of edible food every year.
“At Tesco, we want our customers to be able to get more out of their food shop whilst keeping delicious meals on the table,” said Tesco head of campaigns Tony McElroy.
“That’s why we’re encouraging shoppers to implement a weekly Use Up Day, take stock of what they have in their kitchens and make a shopping list before going out to shop. A little planning can help to spend less and reduce food waste, helping both our pockets and the planet.”
