Tesco issues Clubcard warning as £15million worth of vouchers due to expire in hours

Tesco Clubcard members have been warned that they have just hours to cash in on millions of pounds worth of vouchers before they officially expire today.

The supermarket issues its loyalty scheme members with vouchers when they earn enough points on their shopping, with a minimum of 150 points needed to earn a £1.50 voucher.

Vouchers that were issued in May 2021 are officially set to expire today Wednesday, May 31, with the supermarket saying that more than £15million worth of Clubcard vouchers will expire, reports the Mirror.

Clubcard vouchers are issued every three months during in the year, February, May, August and November, and they expire two years from the date they were issued on. Before new vouchers are issued, the supermarket regularly sends out a reminder to its customers.

Tesco Loyalty Director, Tash Whitmey, said: "We want to help customers’ household budgets stretch further right now and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco – from Clubcard Rewards to thousands of exclusive deals through Clubcard Prices, which could potentially save shoppers up to £351 a year.

"And with more than £15m worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of May, we’re reminding customers to spend them to help with the shopping budget."

Tesco's Clubcard scheme, which was first launched in 1995, has become increasingly popular with households looking to save money, as it claims to boast around 20 million members.

Shoppers can earn points when they shop in-store and online. For every £1 spent on groceries, Clubcard members are able to get one point. Once the points have been transferred into vouchers, customers can use them to get money off their groceries, fuel, or to treat themselves at a range of more than 100 rewards partners including PizzaExpress Fitbit and Spa Seekers.

If you don't want to spend the vouchers in-store, they can be tripled at one of the rewards partners. However, after June 14, points wil only be worth double the amount.

Vouchers can also be extended by turning them into Faster Vouchers, which means they will last 21 months from the date you convert your vouchers.

If you need to check how many points you have left to spent, you can do so by logging into the Tesco Clubcard website with your account details.

Once you are logged in, click on “my Clubcard account” and then “vouchers” and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend.
