Tesco Easter 2022 opening times including Easter Sunday and Monday

Tesco shoppers will want to know when the supermarket chain plans to be open over the coming Easter weekend.

Most retailers will shorten and alter their opening times when there is a bank holiday.

This means you need to check to advance if you need essentials to make sure you don’t miss out.

Tesco opening times do vary across the country, depending on your location. You can search by your postcode here on the Tesco website.

Below, we’ve also rounded up the most common opening times for Tesco shops over Easter so you can plan your trip.

Tesco now has more than 4,000 stores across the UK and Ireland.

When is Tesco open over Easter?

When The Mirror checked today, most larger Tesco stores were running reduced hours on Good Friday (April 15).

For example, most big Tesco branches are scheduled to be open 6am until 10pm, instead of a normal time of 6am or 7am, until 11pm or midnight.

The smaller Tesco Express stores that we checked were typically open under their normal hours on Good Friday.

For most stores, this means from 6am until 11pm, although some may open slightly later at 7am.

On the Easter Saturday (April 16) stores are scheduled to be open under their normal hours.

For larger stores, this is typically 6am until midnight - but again, some may open slightly lately, depending on location.

Do you think supermarkets should stay open or shut on Easter Sunday? Let us know in the comments below.

Easter Sunday (April 17) will see most larger stores shut, but Tesco Express stores are expected to be open under their regular times.

Tesco Express shops are normally open from 6am until midnight on Sundays. This is usually from 6am until 11pm, or sometimes they open from 7am.

Easter Monday (April 18) will see reduced hours across larger Tesco stores. For example, many will be open from 8am until 6pm instead of either 6am or 7am until 11pm or midnight.

Tesco shops will go back to their regular hours from the Tuesday after Easter (April 19).

How to save money in the supermarkets

If you're looking to save money in the supermarket, check out these tips...

  • Keep an eye out for yellow sticker deals and reductions.
  • Look for discounts and voucher codes online and get on mailing lists of brands and retailers you use.
  • Pick up free supermarket magazines - they'll often have vouchers inside.
  • Try the Downshift challenge; this is where you swap branded goods for supermarket-own labels.
  • Meal prep to reduce impulse buys and spending on what you've already got in the cupboard.
  • Freeze any leftovers that can be eaten at a later date to avoid food waste.
