Tesco customers have been told not to eat a number of desserts that have now been pulled from store fridges over fears they may contain traces of nuts. The supermarket says that a number of its cheesecakes are being recalled as a precaution.
This is because the products may contain walnuts which are not declared on the label. The Food Standards Agency said: "These products contain walnuts (nuts) making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to walnuts (nuts). If you have bought the above products and have an allergy to walnuts (nuts), do not eat them. Instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund."
A Tesco notice reads: "As a precaution, we’re recalling all batch codes of Tesco Free From Strawberry Cheesecake, Wicked Kitchen Millionaires Sundae, Wicked Kitchen Strawberry and Vanilla Cheesecake, and Wicked Kitchen Chocolate and Vanilla Cheesecake, because they may contain traces of walnuts which aren’t declared on the label."
The Liverpool Echo reports that the affected products are as follows:
- Tesco Free From Strawberry Cheesecake 2x100g
- Wicked Kitchen Millionaires Sundae 110g
- Wicked Kitchen Strawberry and Vanilla Cheesecake 100g
- Wicked Kitchen Chocolate and Vanilla Cheesecake 100g
All best before dates are impacted by the warning. Anyone with a nut allergy is advised not to consume the product.
They can be returned to a Tesco store for a full refund and shoppers do not need a receipt. For more information, contact Tesco customer services on 0800 505 555.
