Tesco delivery driver asks customer how old she is before trying to kiss her on doorstep

A mum has been left shocked after a Tesco delivery driver tried to kiss her on the lips.

The woman, who has requested not to be named, says the man - thought to be in his 60s - knocked on her door after having already dropped off the shopping at her home in the Meriden estate in Watford.

Footage shows the driver standing in her doorway and asking "please don’t be offended but how old are you?”

After telling him she's 33, the man replies "honestly" before leaning in, grabbing her face and attempting to kiss her.

The shopper says she avoided him making unwanted contact with her lips by turning away. The clip ends with him quickly saying "sorry" while closing the door and leaving the property.

Tesco has now apologised to the customer and launched an internal investigation.

It is understood the driver involved has been taken off deliveries while the investigation takes place.

Describing her reaction to the incident, the shocked customer told the Watford Observer: "It’s crazy for a delivery man to try and kiss me on the lips. It’s unacceptable for anyone to do this.

"I think he could tell I am foreign and of Latin descent and he thought he might get away with it."

Her husband arrived home later the same day, and the couple decided to report the incident to the supermarket after viewing the footage together.

But she says she decided to go public regarding what had happened after calling the customer services team and reportedly being offered "no sympathy" - even being told the culprit was likely an “old friendly man”.

"I had no plan to make this public but Tesco ’s [initial] response was not appropriate. Tesco needs to remind its employees – any delivery driver – of how to treat women who are alone.", she said.

The mum-of-one added that the incident had left her feeling "scared and anxious in her own home".

A spokesman for Tesco said: "We were really concerned to hear about this and take complaints of this nature extremely seriously.

"We immediately began an internal investigation and have reached out to the customer to apologise and make her aware of the actions being taken on our side."
