Tesco customers blast supermarket with more than 500 complaints - after they 'can't buy food'

Tesco has been flooded with around 500 complaints, after angry shoppers found themselves unable to buy food.

The supermarket was forced to apologise to customers yesterday evening (September 7), when a technical glitch left stores to process or amend baskets online - reports Manchester Evening News.

Issues found with the popular site reportedly began at around 11am yesterday, with an abundance of shoppers taking to social media to vent their complaints to the company. Some found that they could not complete their purchase entirely, while others had difficulties booking delivery slots.

The Mirror reports that one person tweeted: "Your website for online orders is broken again. Every time I try to amend an order by adding items, it does it then immediately removes them. Similarly when removing items, they are removed and added back in again. And yes, I have tried logging out and deleting cookies."

Another, added: "Is there a problem with the app/website at the moment? It’s telling me it can’t update my basket. Looks like others are having similar issues. Do you know when the problem will be fixed please?"

A third expressed how fed up they were with the problem, penning: "I'm online and logged in but I can't book a slot or add anything to my trolley. Tried with 2 browsers. Is something wrong? #hungry."

Tesco later confirmed that the issues came about through a technical error, Tweeting: "There's currently an issue with the website that is stopping customers being able to complete basic functions such as booking a slot, checking out an order and amending orders." This news follows on from an incident just last month which left punters furious, claiming that the supermarket cancelled all home deliveries without warning.

In that incident, shoppers calling up Tesco say they got an automatic message that said: "Due to technical issues we’ve had to cancel all orders after 1pm. If your order was due after 1pm you have not been charged. We’re unable to reschedule these orders."
