Tesco Clubcard shoppers warned with just hours left before major change

Tesco Clubcard members have been warned that they have just hours to take action before a major change is set to hit the app tomorrow.

The UK's largest supermarket has confirmed that it is set to close down the Clubcard app tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18. It will be replaced with the revamped Tesco Clubcard and Grocery app, which shoppers will need to download by tomorrow if they wish to continue earning points.

The new Clubcard app will combine the features of both the previous app and the Pay+ app, which was closed by the supermarket on February 27 this year.

The Pay+ app allowed supermarket shoppers to store their payment card and Clubcard details into a single barcode to speed up payments in stores, reports The Mirror.

Previously known as Tesco Grocery, the new app will allow shoppers to pay, view their points balance, spend Clubcard vouchers, order deliveries and check stock in stores.

If you are still using the old Clubcard app, then there are a few ways that you can download the new one before it officially closes tomorrow.

Those who are already Clubcard members can simply move their account over by pressing 'download or open the app' to continue using their card as normal.

Anyone who hasn't signed up before can download the new app for free via Google Play and the App Store.

As points are linked to your Clubcard account, they will automatically be rolled over to the new Tesco Clubcard and Grocery app when you sign up.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: "Bringing the functionality of Tesco Pay+ into the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app is a demonstration of our focus on providing products which closely align to the needs of Tesco shoppers."

It comes just after the supermarket recently announced that it would also be cutting the value of its Clubcard rewards scheme.

Clubcard points, which are currently worth three times their value, will be slashed to just two times the amount from June 14.
