Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “This is a serious crime that has stopped the store from opening today as we carry out further examinations in the area. Business thefts are not a victimless crime and have a huge impact on the shop, staff, and community who need and use this store on a daily basis.
"We are determined to find the offenders to prevent these crimes from taking place and ensure other stores are not targeted in our community. If you were driving on Rainford Road in the early hours of this morning and saw anything suspicious or have any CCTV or dashcam footage please check your systems and contact police if you have any information that could help our investigation.”
