There are less than 12 weeks until Christmas and supermarkets are going head to head in a bid to be the cheapest to bag everything you need for the big day, from toy sales to price cuts on essentials. Big shiny offers and discounts may make you feel as though you're getting the best price, but that's not always the case.
There is no Christmas without chocolate, the best ones include the obvious fan-favourite Cadbury's Caramel and Strawberry Dreams, while Bountys continue to divide opinion. However, we all know it's best to wait for the family chocolate tins to go on sale - there's no chance you'll catch us paying full price when you're guaranteed to find them cheaper elsewhere.
That's why we've been keeping a close eye on the prices on these festive confectionery tins, including Quality Street, Heroes, Celebrations and Roses, in the run up to December.

We know if might be difficult not to raid the tin of Toffee Pennies or Malteaser choccies before the festive season truly kicks in - marked with the start of Manchester Christmas Markets, no less. But it could pay off to bag them early to get the best price - if you know where to shop.
Last week, the cheapest place to buy chocolate seemed to be at Aldi, Tesco and Asda - but after the two for £7 Clubcard deal expired, could there be a new winner?
On the other hand, the most expensive chocolate on the list was a limited edition Roses tin from Ocado, but they've come down £1 in price this week, which means another tin could well be the dearest to buy.
A number of deals have changed this week, others vanished all together. One supermarket have even put the price of one Quality Street tin up by 50p! Let's take a look at what's changed over the last two weeks.
Tesco
Tesco have ditched their popular Clubcard deal on festive chocolate boxes which previously saw selected tubs reduced from £4 each, to two for £7 with a loyalty card. Their 600g boxes of Quality Street, Heroes and Roses, as well as 650g boxes of Celebrations, are back to their original price of £4 with no multibuy offer.
The Clubcard deals have also been axed on the smaller pouches and gift boxes of chocolate, which were also cheaper for those signed up to the scheme. That said, there are two brand new deals on the festive chocolates, where shoppers can get the small carton of Roses or Quality Street for £2 instead of £3 with a Clubcard.
The best offer from Tesco is the large box of Celebrations for £4, which is actually £1 cheaper than the smaller 385g box of the same chocolates, priced at £1. Smaller doesn't always mean cheaper, folks.

Sainsbury’s
Much of Sainsbury's prices have stayed the same this week, with a 600g box of Quality Street costing £5. There’s also a 382g bag for £3.50, and pricier per 100g still is the 220g box at £3, costing £1.36 per 100g.
However, I was a little shocked to see that, despite having no offer on in the last two weeks, the 871g Quality Street tin has gone up by 50p, from £7.50 to £8, making them now 92p per 100g.
All of the other prices and deals remained much the same, though, with Heroes costing £10 for a 900g tub for £10, or £5 for a 600g tub, which is half the price for a two thirds of the contents. Those with smaller families may want to get the 382g or 220g pots, but these are priced at £3.50 and £3 respectively, totalling 98p and £1.04 per 100g.
Celebrations are still the store’s cheapest chocolates, costing 77p per 100g for the 650g tub, which is currently £5. Alternatively, there are 370g and 240g pouches for £3.50 and £3, but again, these work out more expensive in the long run - and we certainly can’t see them being tucked away until December, either.
Shoppers who favour the more sophisticated Roses tins can bag 900g for a tenner, while 600g is just £5, making them 83p per 100g, so not a bad deal at all. The 357g pouches come in at £3.50 - still less than a quid per 100g. The 290g box was reduced to £3 last week, but is back up to it's original price of £4.
This means that Celebrations’ 650g boxes are the cheapest to buy at 77p per 100g, while the smallest Quality Street box works out most expensive.

Ocado
Ocado have extended their deal on a giant box of Heroes, which sees a whopping 2kg box slashed from £23 to £16.50. The huge box of confectionery works out at 82.5p per 100g, which is cheaper than their 600g boxes, which are £5 and equal around 83.3p per 100g.

The large 800g tin of Roses is no longer on offer for a tenner, and has gone back up to £12, making them £1.50 for 100g of chocolate.
However, there have been some new deals, including a 432g box of Roses down from £7 to £6, making them £1.39 per 100g.
Last week, the 290g boxes of Roses and Heroes were £4 each or two for £6. Instead, they’re now £3 with no multi-buy deal, which means you don’t have to bulk buy if you just wanted the one box.

Aldi
Aldi is home to the cheapest of ALL the chocolate in this list, with the 650g Celebrations tin costing £3.99 - or 61p per 100g. That’s a whole pound cheaper than most retailers, but still undercuts the likes of Tesco and Asda, who have them priced at £4.
Their 600g tubs of Quality Street, also £3.99, were clearly the best deal of the past week, because they're now sold out online. You can still pick up a 382g pouch for £3.49, but at 91p per 100g, it's not quite as good a deal as some of the others in this list.

Morrisons
Morrisons prices haven't seen a single change this week, meaning my advice remains the same as a fortnight ago. It’s better to go big on Quality Street at Morrisons where a 600g box is £4.99. It’s a better offer than the 382g pouch that’s £4, and still works out cheaper overall than the 220g cartons that are £2, down from £3.
A 600g box of Heroes is the same price as Quality Street, as is the 600g of Roses and 650g of Celebrations.
The 357g bags of Heroes and Roses are both £4, costing £1.12 per 100g - Morrisons’ most expensive offers. Shoppers can also pick up 370g of Celebrations for £4, or 186g of Roses for £2, slashed from £3 - but going for the bigger tins will save you money overall.

Asda
There are some very slight changes at Asda this week, none of which affect the actual price you pay on the day - just whether or not you get loyalty rewards on the app. Those looking to stock their pantry with seasonal snacks early can get 600g of Quality Street, Heroes or Roses for £4, while 650g of Celebrations is the same price. Those who have the Asda Rewards app can claim £1 to add to their cashpot on the app, which can be used towards their next shop. In theory, you could say that makes the boxes £3, depending on how you look at it.
Asda’s most expensive chocolates come in the smallest tubs, costing £3 for 290g of Roses or Heroes, which is the equivalent of £1.03 per 100g - though still not the most expensive we’ve seen this week at other retailers.
Options with prices somewhere in the middle sees 357g of Heroes cost £3.50 with a 75p cash reward on the app, which matches the price of 382g of Quality Street. Last week 380g of Celebrations, costing £3, would also earn you 75p back on the app. This deal has since been swapped to apply to the smaller, yet more expensive 370g tin, which is £3.50. With the cashback, you could consider these to be £2.75, though.

B&M
Prices have stayed put at bargain store B&M, too, where shoppers can snap up 450g of Quality Street for £3 - or 78p per 100g. The big 650g Celebrations tins are also in stock coming in at £5, which works out the same price per 100g as the 388g bag, costing £3. A smaller 370g bag is also £3, so it’s worth supersizing here for sure.
Heroes cost around £1 per 100g with a 900g tin coming in at £8.99, while a small 290g box is £2.99. Roses are priced exactly the same for their equivalent boxes.
Best deal at B&M: 650g Celebrations for £5

Iceland
Iceland's deals and offers also remain unchanged, meaning 600g of Quality Street is still a fiver, or you can get two tubs for £8 costing 83p per 100g. The 382g bags are now £3 down from £3.50 - making them 79p per 100g. Those multi buying for gifts can stock up on the smaller 220g boxes, which are £2.50 each or three for £5 - or, three for two, depending on how you want to look at it.
Heroes are a little pricier, costing the same amount of money, with the same three for £5 deal - but for just 185g boxes, working out at £1.35 per 100g - so we recommend opting for Quality Street if you’re adamant on shopping at Iceland. Celebrations remain cheap and cheerful, costing £5 for 650g, or two for £8, while their 370g bag is £3 - or 81p per 100g.

Cheapest Quality Street this week
The cheapest Quality Streets this week can be found at Tesco and Asda, costing 67p per 100g. Tesco and Asda are both selling 600g boxes for £4 however, you might be inclined to pick Asda for their £1 cashback deal on the Asda Rewards app, which makes the box £3 as it gives you money off your next shop.
Cheapest Heroes this week
Tesco has been crowned the cheapest for Heroes this week, with their 600g box costing £4. But if you need A LOT of chocolate, Ocado’s whopping 2kg box for £16.50 - or 83p per 100g, is also a pretty great deal.
Cheapest Celebrations this week
Celebrations seem to be the cheapest chocolates across the board, but the absolute cheapest you can pick them up is at Aldi, where they’re £3.99 for 650g - working out at 61p per 100g. We think that’ll be a difficult offer to beat in the upcoming weeks. Tesco and Asda are both very close behind with their £4 boxes - just a penny difference.
Cheapest Roses this week
Asda and Tesco are once again the best stores to pick up packs of Roses for 67p per 100g. Tesco’s 600g boxes cost £4 per box, which is price matched at Asda. The benefit of Asda is that you do get £1 back on the app, which can be used against your next shop, so you’ve got to weigh it up carefully.
Most expensive chocolate overall
Last week, the most expensive chocolates on the list were the limited edition Roses at Ocado, costing £7 for a 432g tin, but since they've been reduced by £1, that makes them £1.39 per 100g instead of £1.62 per 100g. Instead the 800g box of Roses at Ocado cost £12 which works out at £1.50 per 100g - 12p cheaper than last weeks highest price.
