Tesco announces major change to its yellow sticker section due to shopper demand

Tesco have announced it will be making some changes to its yellow stickered items.

The retail giant is sprucing up its reduced section as more shoppers are now looking out for marked-down food in its stores due to the cost of living crisis. It will rebranding the yellow stickers after a third of shoppers said they'd pick these items more if the section looked nicer.

Tesco is subsequently renaming its 'reduced to clear' section to make discounted items appear even more enticing and boost the number of people buying from the section. It will now be called 'reduced in price - just as nice' in 100 stores by Christmas, then in more stores throughout 2023.

Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: We want customers to spend less at Tesco, and our ‘reduced in price’ sections in stores now offer the reassurance that these products are just as nice and are another reminder there's great value to be found on every aisle at Tesco."

The move comes after a YouGov survey, commissioned by Tesco, found that 69% of customers are actively hunting for discounted items. Meanwhile 33% of shoppers are doing it more often.
