Supermarket giant Tesco has announced a change for its shoppers which will see them being asked an extra question when using the self-service checkouts. Customers will notice the difference from Monday, September 12, with the change remaining in place until October 2.
The self-service checkouts will now being asking its users whether they want to round up the total cost of their shop. By rounding up to the nearest pound, shoppers will be contributing to a fundraising campaign for three of the UK's leading health charities, Leicestershire Live reports.
The nationwide change will benefit Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, say Tesco, to continue their vital work to improve and save lives. In addition to the funds being raised, the campaign aims to increase awareness about the importance of making sustainable lifestyle changes that can help people to lower the impact of cancer, heart and circulatory diseases, and diabetes.
