Tesco and Iceland recall popular Birds Eye frozen food product over 'incorrect' food in packs

Birds Eye has issued an urgent food recall over its Aunt Bessie's Crispy Onion Rings due to an error in manufacturing which could lead to undeclared milk and egg being found in some of the products.

The popular frozen products are sold in a number of the UK's leading supermarkets, such as Tesco, Iceland and Ocado and have been dubbed a 'possible health risk' to those who have allergies or intolerances to the dairy ingredients.

The company has since recalled the item while releasing a notice instructing shoppers what they should do if they've purchased the product. The main allergy organisations have also been contacted by Birds Eye.

The Express reports that those who have purchased the frozen onion rings and have an allergy or intolerance, should: "Cut the packaging which shows the batch code and post this and your contact details to the address as shown on the attached notice for a full refund," according to the Food Standards Agency.

The FSA also warned customers to "not eat" them and advised them to contact www.birdseye.co.uk/contact-us for any further information.

In the last couple of weeks, other popular products have also been withdrawn from the supermarkets' shelves.
