It's mid-March and already the shelves are filling up fast with all things Easter from cards to chocolate eggs.
And with the annual occasion not far away, with Easter officially beginning early April, many shoppers will be hunting high and low for the best eggs they can find.
The two-week break in Scotland this year runs from Monday, April 3 to Friday, April 14 but and you can check your school dates on the Scottish government website.

But with the cost of living crisis currently pushing prices up, people will also be keen on finding the best value for money and opting for own brands rather than named.
So in the name of journalism, and thanks to Plymouth Live, one of their lucky reporters decided to taste test supermarket's own Easter eggs against the chocolate kings, Cadbury's with them firstly stating that they thought Cadbury's would be the most expensive "but incredibly it was the cheapest."
The reporter added: "This begs the question how much better supermarket chocolate eggs are and which ones are ripping their customers off. I felt it was my duty to find out so I compared products from Sainsbury's, M&S, Aldi, Morrisons and Tesco to find out.
"One egg was completely and utterly vile with one colleague describing it as tasting like 'dog poo' (possibly a bit far). Other eggs surprised us but there was only ever going to be one winner."

6. Tesco
This Easter egg cost £2.50, 50p more than the Cadbury's egg, and was just gross. The chocolate was way too thin and just tasted cheap.
There was also a horrid aftertaste, almost plasticky. I should add this was one of three eggs to be a "free-from" product because it was the only own-brand egg they had at the time of purchase.

5. Sainsbury's
Again, this egg tasted cheap. The best comparison I can think of was advent calendar chocolate which is ok in small doses but a whole egg? No thanks.
It was also thin like the Tesco chocolate and was in a very unusual shape. I wouldn't normally have an issue with its shape but it makes the egg look a lot bigger than it is.
In reality, it was a very narrow egg - which is something I never thought I'd write in an article.

4. Morrisons
In my opinion, this was a step above the first two eggs. It looked very premium and had been dipped in honeycomb. The only issue is there really wasn't enough honeycomb - it was practically redundant as you I could hardly taste it.
It was also supposed to have sea salt in the chocolate but not as far as I could work out - again, very tasteless. But overall I'd say it was a nice product and it was much thicker than Tesco's effort.

3. Aldi
The first thing I noticed about this egg was its incredible smell. It really smelt amazing which is enough to get it third on this list.
As well as looking premium this egg also tasted premium. Aldi's egg also had so much more flavour. It was 'caramel' chocolate and you could really taste it. My only criticism was that it was slightly too sweet.

2. M&S
This was the most expensive egg of the lot and was by far the closest to our winner, although I'd argue it actually tasted closer to Thornton's. The chocolate was thick and the white chocolate yolk on top was delicious.
The only sticking point is the price - there's no way it's worth double what our winner is worth so for that reason it had to finish second.

1. Cadbury's
As I said, there was only going to be one winner. It's the cheapest and it was by far the best. In my notes I just have the word 'perfect' next to Cadbury's.
I don't think there's anything more to say. 5/5.

Plymouth Live said: "So, if you're looking to save the pennies, forget the own brand stuff and head straight for the household names. Don't take it just from me - I asked my colleagues (who were more than willing to help out) to take part in a blind taste test and four out of five of them agreed Cadbury's was the best. One editor thought Aldi was the best and Cadbury's tasted just like Tesco's poor attempt - but his thoughts don't count."
