With the current cost of living crisis and soaring food prices, many households will be wondering how they can stick to a budget at the supermarket.
Which is why one savvy shopper took social media to share how she set the task of living off one weeks worth of food that cost her just under £7.
Budgeting influencer Kathryn, also known as @Everylittlepenny, took to TikTok to share videos on how she challenged herself to live off £1 a day with food bought from Aldi, Tesco and Lidl, reports BirminghamLive.
In a series of videos titled "Living Off £1 A Day", the money-conscious shopper explains how she managed to pick budget groceries for pennies, including peaches for 31p, a carrot for 6p, onion for 11p and chopped tinned tomatoes at 28p from Tesco. She also bought a packet of spaghetti for 23p.
Shopping in Aldi, Kathryn managed to pick up a loaf of bread, two tins of tuna, a bag of frozen sweetcorn, mixed bell peppers, dried pasta, two tins of kidney beans and a packet of tortilla wraps.
In one video, she said: "So is it possible to live off a £1 a day shopping budget at Tesco, Aldi and Lidl? Let's go."
During the course of the week, Kathryn explained that, while her meals weren't "revolutionary", it certainly was a challenge that everyone can do when purchasing cheap food.
For the grand total of £6.82, her haul included enough to make basic meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Kathryn saying that she ate a tin of cold peaches for breakfast.
She also explains that she got enough from her Aldi shop, while also whip up some vegetable pasta from her food haul from Tesco for both lunch and dinner.
