Terror Attack In Tel Aviv Declared By Israeli Authorities

Sirens warning of incoming rockets sound around Gaza, near Tel Aviv

An explosion in Tel Aviv on Sunday evening has been declared a terror attack by Israeli police and Israel’s domestic security agency. The incident, which occurred on HaLehi Street, involved the detonation of a powerful explosive device.

Hamas’s armed wing claimed responsibility for the explosion in a statement on its Telegram account. The attack resulted in the death of the individual suspected of carrying the explosive material, while a passerby sustained moderate injuries and was promptly transported for medical treatment.

According to a joint statement issued by the Israel Police Spokesperson’s Unit and the security agency Spokesperson’s Unit, a major disaster was narrowly averted, potentially saving many lives. Authorities refrained from speculating on the intended target of the attack.

Following the blast, the Tel Aviv District Commander initiated extensive search operations across the city. Numerous reports of the loud explosion prompted a swift response from law enforcement, with residents urged to remain vigilant.

Hamas stated that the attack was a coordinated effort with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigades. The group emphasized that such operations would persist as long as perceived injustices, including civilian displacement and targeted assassinations, continued.

The explosion comes amid heightened tensions in the region, particularly in the aftermath of the conflict in Gaza. Authorities are working to ascertain any potential links between the incident and the complex security landscape in the area.
