A driver has been left shaken after he says a lorry towing a bus drove on the wrong side of the road towards him.
David Cooper claims he had to swerve his car out of the way of an M8 Recovery vehicle as it cut a roundabout and almost caused a head-on collision at around 1.30pm on Sunday, June 11. The incident occurred on the B787 in Johnstone near to the McGills bus depot.
David was in his BMW alongside his partner and had to stop to take a breath after the large vehicle skimmed past. The onboard footage appears to show the M8 recovery taking the roundabout at pace.
The driver told Glasgow Live: "It went the wrong way on the roundabout and drove at speed up my side of the carriageway. It continued and didn't slow down. I had to break, pull in and hit the kerb."

"The camera view shows that it was just a hair's width away from hitting me before swapping onto the other side.
"I don't know if it was just easier for him but the speed he was going was just ridiculous. It gave us a massive fright.
"I later pulled up and sat for 15 minutes because I couldn't believe that just happened. It was terrifying.
"My car alerted me to say there was the chance of a head-on collision, it flashes and started to automatically slow down."
A spokesperson for M8 recovery said: "Our Driver is driving a 44 Ton Recovery Truck whilst towing a bus which is a total length of 60 feet. As you can see from the photographs there are roadworks in the middle of the roundabout with cones around and the manhole cover exposed. Our driver is very experienced and was driving at a very slow speed with full beacon lights on.
"Our driver was unable to get round the roundabout with these roadworks in place. If he had attempted the manoeuver, it possibly could have led to a road closure. Our driver was halfway around the roundabout when the BMX X5 was approaching the roundabout. Our driver was unable to move back across to the left-hand side of the road due to the centre island being there and the length of the vehicle.
"Looking at the photographs you can also see that Mr Cooper was far enough away from the roundabout to see that a Heavy Recovery Vehicle was maneuvering, and we believe he had ample stopping time and distance to allow our vehicle to finish the manoeuvre.
"M8 Recovery has over 30 years’ experience in recovery, and we take every precaution possible to ensure the safety of other road users.
"We appreciate that seeing this type of thing happening is not an everyday occurrence, we don’t believe that our driver has acted in a dangerous way."
