Shocking footage has been shared of the moment 50 tiger sharks ripped the carcass of a humpback whale to shreds in a “feeding frenzy”.
The dead whale was spotted off the coast of Hervey Bay in Queensland, Australia, after a drone caught sight of the spectacle.
The local Department of Environment and Science attended the scene, filming the frenzy as the sharks devoured the whale.
The video shows a horde of sharks surrounding the carcass.
Authorities have now issued a warning to steer clear of marine animal remains, showing the potential dangers.
Senior Ranger, Daniel Clifton said: “Where there are dead whales, there are likely sharks nearby and this vision clearly shows why this is the case.
“The death of one whale, although sad, creates a life source for many other scavenging animals including fish, sharks, and other marine life.
“That is why we ask people to keep their distance from dead whales that wash up near the shore.
“Marine animals can also carry zoonotic diseases, so you should never touch them.”
The humpback’s remains have been anchored to a secure spot to allow for natural processes to continue.
It is the fifth whale to die in Wide Bay waters in the past week.

The hammerheads continue to stalk the shallow waters around Robinson island momentarily, before one thrashes and races off to sea.
A group of excited youngsters can be heard chatting to their parents after the scary encounter.
Meredith's fiance, Paul Hubble, told local media WLBT that there were as many as eight sharks swimming in bteween the boats.
