A horror film that is currently being screened in American cinemas has caused some viewers to faint from its scenes of graphic violence.
Terrifier 2 will be available to watch in the UK on October 24, however viewer discretion is advised.
The film centres on a character named Art the Clown, who goes on a rampage in order to hunt down a teenage girl and her brother.
However the film's gory scenes are making people physically ill.
The film's creators have taken to social media to warn fans, with producer Steve Barton writing: "This movie contains scenes of graphic violence and brutal depictions of horror.
"Viewers who are faint of heart, prone to light headedness or have weak stomachs are advised to take extreme caution. There have already been numerous instances of fainting and vomiting in theatres. For those choosing to continue, you have been warned…"
Critics have awarded the film a score of 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with one writing: “This exceeds the first film in almost every way, as the kills are brutal, the characters are more interesting, and viewers will learn quite a bit more about Art the Clown. The thrills make it engaging from start to finish.”
However some pointed out that the film was unnecessarily gory, with another saying: “A tedious, uninspired, and exhausting experience that bombards the audience with relentless violence, depravity, and gore."
The impact of the film's gory and violent scenes have been getting attention for the wrong reasons, after it made the headlines that emergency services had attended to people who were unwell after watching it.
One person took to social media to post a picture of paramedics in a cinema, writing: "#Terrifier2 my friend passed out and the theater called an ambulance. Highly recommended."
Another wrote: "Just saw Terrifier 2. It was an amazing gory mess. The guy behind me passed out cold n crashed into my chair, another guy left because he didn’t feel good, I overheard him say and walking out theatre door I heard a guy puking hard & loud in the bathroom."
However, the film could have been much worse, with director Damien Leone admitting that he was holding back.
Speaking to ComingSoon.net he said: “Believe it or not, there is a line. What you see, at the end of the day, I’ve imagined where it can go five times worse. I thought of taking it to a much worse place, but I was afraid of really ostracising the audience.
“I know this gore is too extreme for some people, but it could also be way worse.”
