Terrace Marshall Jr. may be out for more than just tomorrow’s exhibition against the New York Giants.
According to Sheena Quick of FOX Sports Radio 1340 AM on Wednesday night, the third-year wide receiver is expected to miss a few weeks due to his back injury. Joe Person of The Athletic later backed up the report.

The expectation is Panthers WR Terrace Marshall will miss a few weeks with his back injury, as @Sheena_Marie3 said. A source said team believes there’s a chance Marshall can beat that timeline. Either way his injury – after Damiere Byrd’s – is testing the receiver depth.

Earlier in the day, head coach Frank Reich confirmed that Marshall Jr. would not be a go in the team’s second preseason outing of the summer.
“It’s pretty much like I said the other day. Sometimes with these things, you gotta let ’em settle down for two, three, four days,” Reich said of evaluating the setback. “So, that’s what we’re in the process of doing.”
With fellow wideout Damiere Byrd having been placed on the injured reserve list yesterday afternoon, the Panthers are heading into the Meadowlands quite a bit thinner at the position.
Reich added that quarterback Andy Dalton (back), running back Miles Sanders (groin) and guard Cade Mays (neck) are also not expected to play tomorrow.
