A row over who would get access to designer fashion first was partly to blame for a feud between Meghan Markle and the Princess of Wales', it has been claimed.
Tensions between the two strong female members of the royal family were said to be triggered when the Duchess of Sussex found herself behind Kate in the queue for the latest outfits from a top designer.
Resentments became 'clear' when the then Duchess of Cambridge's wardrobe was prioritised, reports suggest.

The Mirror reports how Meghan adored clothes from British designer Erdem Moralıoğlu, but it has been claimed that her future sister-in-law - who was an existing customer - was given first dibs.
This reportedly upset the American, who had worn his dresses to a number of engagements before joining The Firm.
New details of their relationship have been published in The Telegraph.
After becoming a royal, Meghan did not publicly wear the respected designer's outfits until 2019, the publication states.
The fact they the clothes were handed to Kate first is said to have gone down badly with the Sussexes.
Meghan allegedly was so ticked off she questioned why William's wife was given priority over her, reportedly saying Kate 'wasn't even Queen'.
Prince Harry revealed more details of a fallout between the pair over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress, claiming the incident left Meghan 'sobbing on the floor'.
Harry claims the incident was largely driven by Kate, who was angered at having to wait a day to hear back from Meghan about the offending garment ahead of the 2018 Royal wedding.
It comes as a royal expert says Harry was "fooling himself" if he thought his wife and sister-in-law were going to be "best of buddies".
The Duke of Sussex took aim at Kate in his controversial memoir Spare and shared details of a row over bridesmaids' dresses at the time of his wedding, which left Meghan in tears.
In a TV interview, he also accused Kate of "stereotyping" Meghan, saying her behaviour created a barrier.
Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine and royal biographer Ingrid Seward believes that Kate will be "upset and angry" with Harry for speaking out about her.
In one part of Netflix's three-part docuseries 'Harry & Meghan', the Duchess claimed that she intentionally wore neutral tones when she was living in the UK to avoid wearing the same colour as other royals.
She said: "To my understanding, you can't ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there's a group event. But then you also should never be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family."
