Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari has wowed her fans by sharing her intense workout routine on Instagram.
The world number nine’s workout involved her performing strength, agility, balance, and stamina exercises.
Sakkari, 27, who became the highest-ranked Greek player in history alongside Stefanos Tsitsipas when she reached No 3 in March 2022, captioned her video: “Tag someone who you know would crush this workout.”
Fellow player, Croatia’s Donna Vekic, 26, commented under the post by tagging Superman.
Former player Jennifer Brady, 28, of the US, tagged herself to take on the challenge.
Sakkari’s Instagram account is full of footage from her professional tennis career, which began in 2015. From her latest matches to how she trains for them, her fans are given a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be a professional.
Her Instagram handle, Sakkatack, is a nod to the aggressive, all-court style of play tennis lovers know her for. She is renowned for her strong serve and mighty groundstrokes.
Sakkari is the daughter of the former top 50 female tennis player, Angeliki Kanellopoulou. Her grandfather, Dimitris Kanellopoulos, was also a tennis player, proving that sporting excellence runs in the family.
Sakkari started playing tennis aged six and moved to Barcelona to train professionally aged 18.
She lives in Monte Carlo and is reported to be in a relationship with Konstantinos Mitsotakis, the son of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The pair have been together for more than two years.
Sakkari told Tennis World USA of their relationship: “I know that I am happy and I have the right person next to me who makes me happy and I just focus on that.
“There are always malicious people in everything you do in life, whether it’s a relationship or your job. They will always find something to say. I know that I am very good with this man, that we have a great time together and that’s what matters.”
